Calculation: Solving word problems (1 week) Solve word problems: - Where pupils have to decide when it is appropriate to add and subtract using bar modelling to support. - Finding the difference between 2 amounts. - Solve multi-step word problems using more than one bar. - Unknown quantities. Prior Learning – Year 1 – Chapter 11 – Addition and Subtraction Solving word problems – use of cubes to represent bar models and having more than one bar. |

Calculations: Multiplication of 2, 5, 10 (2.5 weeks) - Repeated addition with equal groups. - 2, 5, 10 times table. - Multiplying by groups of 2, 5 and 10. - Looking for patterns in the 2, 5, 10 times table. - Commutative law – links between 2, 5, 10 times tables. - Solve word problems using the 2,5 10 times table. Calculations: Multiplication and division of 2, 5, 10 (2 weeks) - Understand that grouping is a way of dividing. - Sharing an amount. - Divide by 2, 5, 10, and the links with multiplication. - Fact families in a number sentence. - Solve word problems involving multiplication and division. - Pattern seeking - Recognise whether odd and even numbers can be divisible by 2,5, 10. Prior Learning – Year 1 – Chapter 13 - Division Grouping and sharing.

Geometry: Properties of Shapes: 2D shapes (2 weeks) - Identify number of sides, vertices in 2D shapes. - Identify lines of symmetry in basic 2D shapes. - Drawing and recognising lines of symmetry on figures. - Sort shapes based on number of sides, vertices and other factors. - Drawing shapes on square and dotted paper. - Recognise and describe patterns. - Moving shapes using common language. - Turning shapes – quarter, half and three-quarter turns (anticlockwise and clockwise). Prior Learning – Year 1 – Chapter 7 – Properties of Shape: Shapes and Patterns. Recognising and sorting 2D shapes. Year 1 – Chapter 14 - Fractions Recognising half and quarters.
