Number and Place Value: Numbers to 100 (1.5 weeks)

-          Counting numbers to 100.

-          Understand the meaning of each digit.

-          Compare numbers using place value knowledge.

-          Number bonds.

-          Pattern finding – counting in tens and ones, crossing boundaries and describing patterns with 3 and 5.

Prior Learning –

Year 1 – Chapter 1, 6, 10 and 15.

Learning numerals up to 100 and the place value of each digit. Ordering numbers in ascending and descending order.

Finish Mass and then Measurement: Temperature  (0.5 weeks)

-          Read temperature in Celsius.

-          Estimate temperatures.

-          Read thermometers to confirm estimation.

 

Measurement: Fractions (3 weeks)

 

-          Show equal parts.

-          Showing half and quarter.

-          Showing thirds

-          Naming fractions

-          Making a whole

-          Counting in halves, quarters and thirds.

-          Finding part of a set,

-          Finding parts of a quantity.

Calculations: Addition and Subtraction (3 weeks)

-          Adding without regrouping the ones.

-          Add 2 digit numbers where one is a multiple of 10.

-          Adding 2 digit numbers with renaming.

-          Subtract ones from a 2 digit number.

-          Subtract 2 digit numbers, which are a multiple of 10.

-          Subtract 2 digit numbers with no renaming.

-          Subtract 2 digit numbers with renaming.

-          Add 3 one-digit numbers together.

Creating number stories

Statistics: Pictograms (1 week)

-          Read a picture graph.

-          Read and interpret a picture graph.

-          Read a picture graph where the value is more than 1.

Calculation: Solving word problems (1 week)

Solve word problems:

-          Where pupils have to decide when it is appropriate to add and subtract using bar modelling to support.

-          Finding the difference between 2 amounts.

-          Solve multi-step word problems using more than one bar.

-          Unknown quantities.

Prior Learning –

Year 1 – Chapter 11 – Addition and Subtraction

Solving word problems – use of cubes to represent bar models and having more than one bar.

Calculations: Multiplication of 2, 5, 10 (2.5 weeks)

-          Repeated addition with equal groups.

-          2, 5, 10 times table.

-          Multiplying by groups of 2, 5 and 10.

-          Looking for patterns in the 2, 5, 10 times table.

-          Commutative law – links between 2, 5, 10 times tables.

-          Solve word problems using the 2,5 10 times table.

-          Identify coins and notes and write their names.

-          Count notes in sequences of 2, 5, 10.

-          Compare the amount of money using coins.

-          Add money together to determine a total.

-          Understand that grouping is a way of dividing.

-          Sharing an amount.

-          Divide by 2, 5, 10, and the links with multiplication.

-          Fact families in a number sentence.

-          Solve word problems involving multiplication and division.

-          Pattern seeking - Recognise whether odd and even numbers can be divisible by 2,5, 10.

Geometry: Properties of Shapes: 2D shapes (2 weeks)

-          Identify number of sides, vertices in 2D shapes.

-          Sort shapes based on number of sides, vertices and other factors.

-          Drawing shapes on square and dotted paper.

-          Recognise and describe patterns.
