Prior Learning –

Year 1 – Chapter 1, 6, 10 and 15.

Learning numerals up to 100 and the place value of each digit. Ordering numbers in ascending and descending order.

Year 2- Chapter 1

Counting up to 100 and understanding the meaning of the different digits. Understanding the crossing of boundaries.

Measurement: Length (2 weeks)

-          Writing length in Metres, Centimetres and Millimetres.

-          Comparing lengths

-          Solving word problems

Prior Learning –

Year 1 – Chapter 8 – Length and Height

Measuring using a ruler.

Year 2 – Chapter 5 – Length and Height

Measure in Metres and centimetres and compare objects in cm. Comparing the length of a curvy and straight line.

 

Statistics: Pictographs and Bar Graphs.  (2 weeks)

-          Drawing pictograms and bar graphs.

-          Reading bar graphs.

Prior Learning –

Year 2 – Chapter 8 – Pictograms.

Read a picture graph and interpret the graph.

Fractions, Decimals and Percentages : Fractions  (5 weeks)

-          Counting in tenths.

-          To relate fractions to decimals .

-          To find and write fractions as a discrete sets of objects.

-          To find equivalent fractions.

-          To compare and order fractions with the same denominator.

-          To compare fractions using pictorial representation and number lines.

-          To add and subtract fractions from a whole.

-          Solve word problems.

Prior Learning –

Year 1 – Chapter 14 Fractions

Making halves and quarters.

Year 2 – Chapter 13 – Fractions

To show equal parts, to make half, quarter and thirds, to make a whole, find parts of a set and quantity.

Calculations: Addition and Subtraction  (5 weeks)

-          Adding, ones, tens and hundreds.

-          Simple addition..

-          Adding with renaming,

-          Subtracting ones, tens and hundreds.

-          Simple subtraction.

-          Subtraction with renaming.

Measurement: Mass (1 week)

-          Reading weighing scales.

Mathematical vocabulary linked to mass.

Finding and comparing mass using non-standard measurements.

Year 2 – Chapter 6 – Mass

Measure in Kilograms and grams and compare the mass using 2/3 objects.

Measurement: Volume (2 weeks)

-          Measuring Volume and Capacity in Millimetres and Litres.

-          Writing volume and capacity in Litres and Millimetres.

-          Solving word problems.

Prior Learning –

Year 1 – Chapter 18- Volume and Capacity

Using more and less to compare volume and capacity using non-standard measurements.

Year 2 – Chapter  16 – Volume

Mid- Year Tests

N.B: this time may be reduced according to the needs of the class and cohort. Pupils may need more time on curriculum content opposed to a large review of the year so far. This is down to the discretion on the class teacher.

Geometry: Properties of Shapes: Angles  (2.5 weeks)

-          Making angles.

-          Finding Right angles.

-          Find different angles in and outside of objects.

-          To find angles in shapes.

-          To compare angles.

-          To make turns using vocabulary.

Measurement: Money  (3 weeks)

-          Counting money

-          Showing amounts of money.

-          Adding and Subtracting money.

-          Calculating change.

-          Solving Word problems.

 

Prior Learning –

Year 1 – Chapter 17- Money

Recognising and naming coins and notes.

Year 2 – Chapter 10 – Money

Identifying notes and coins. Count in sequence of 2, 5 and 10. Represent amounts of money and count them. Create equal amounts using different coins. Add and subtract change from £100 or less.

Calculations: Multiplication and Division  (3 weeks)

-          Multiply by 3, 4, 8.

-          Divide by 3, 4 8.

-          Finding relationships between multiplication and division.

-          Solving word problems.

 

Prior Learning –

Year 1 – Chapter 12

Understanding of equal groups.

Year 1 – Chapter 13 - Division

Grouping and sharing.

Year 2 – Chapter 3 and 4 – Multiplication and division of 2, 5, 10.

Communitive law between 2, 5 and 10. Repeated addition, finding groups and sharing linked to the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

Geometry: Properties of Shapes: Lines and Shapes.  (1.5 weeks)

-          To identify perpendicular, parallel, horizontal and vertical lines.

-          To draw 2D shapes and describe 3-D shapes.

Prior Learning –

Year 1 –Chapter 7 Properties of shape: Shapes and Patterns.

Recognising 2D and 3D shapes and grouping 2D shapes.

Year 2 – Chapter 11 and 12 – 2D and 3D shapes.

To identify number of sides, vertices and symmetry in 2D shapes. To draw shapes and move shapes using common language. To identify and sort 3D shapes according to their properties.

Measurement Time (3 weeks)

-          Telling the time to the minute,

-          Telling the time using the 12-hour and 24-hour clock.

-          Tell the time using roman numerals.

-          To measure the time in seconds.

-          To measure and compare time using a stopwatch and analogue clock.

-          To find the duration in minutes and hours.

-          To find the start and end times.

-          Convert minutes to seconds and vice versa.

-          To find the number of days in a month.

-          To find the duration of days for different activities.

Prior Learning –

Year 1 – Chapter 16 – Time

Telling the time to half hour and hour, Ordering events, estimating and comparing using mathematical language.

Year 2 – Chapter 15 – Time

Telling the time to 5 minutes. Drawing clock hands. Finding durations of time. Finding start and end times. Comparing durations.

Measurement: Perimeter (2 weeks)

-          To measure the total length around a shape.

-          To measure using 1cm and 2cm gridded paper.

-          To create shapes with a specific perimeter.

-          To calculate the perimeter using a ruler to measure.

-          To calculate the perimeter of a rectangle and square using addition and multiplication.

-          To calculate the perimeter using information previously learnt about shapes.

Prior Learning –

Year 3 – Chapter 2 – Addition and Subtraction.

Adding numbers together.

Year 3 - Chapter 3 and 4- Multiplication and division.

Multiplying numbers.

Year 3 – Chapter 14 – Lines and Shapes.

To recognise the properties of 2D shapes.

-          Multiply 2 digit numbers.

-          Multiply with renaming.

-          Divide 2 digit numbers.

-          Divide with renaming.

-          Solving word problems.

Prior Learning

Year 3 – Chapter 3- Multiplication and division.

Solving word problems involving the 3, 4 and 8 times table.
