-          Counting in Hundreds and Twenty-fives.

-          Counting in thousands, hundreds, tens and ones.

-          Understand the place value of a 4-digit number.

-          Compare and order 4 digit numbers.

-          To make number patterns (100, 10, 1 more, less).

-          To round numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000.

-          Rounding numbers to estimate.

Prior Learning –

Year 2- Chapter 1Place Value to 100.

Counting up to 100 and understanding the meaning of the different digits. Understanding the crossing of boundaries.

Year 3 – Chapter 1 – Place Value to 1000.

Count up to 1000 understanding the place value of each digit. Compare and order numbers and recognising number patterns.

-          To divide 2-digit and 3-digit numbers.

-          To solve word problems.

Prior Learning –

Year 3 – Chapter 3 and 4 – Multiplication and Division

To find relationships between multiplication and division. To multiply and divide 2 digit numbers with renaming.

Money

Prior Learning –

Year 2 – Chapter 10 – Money

Identifying notes and coins. Count in sequence of 2, 5 and 10. Represent amounts of money and count them. Create equal amounts using different coins. Add and subtract change from £100 or less.

Year 3 – Chapter 9 – Money

Adding and subtracting amounts of money and finding change.

Measurement: Mass, Length and Volume (2 weeks)

-          To convert units of length.

-          Estimate length.

-          Convert units of mass.

-          Estimate mass.

-          Convert units of volume.

-          Estimate volume.

-          Compare and order measurements of length, mass and volume.

Prior Learning –

Year 3 – Chapter 5- Length

To write in Metres, Centimetres and Millimetres. To compare lengths.

Year 3 – Chapter 6- Mass

To read weighing scales.

Year 3 – Chapter 7- Volume

To measure volume and capacity using Millilitres and Litres.

Statistics: Graphs (1 week)

-          Draw and read pictograms and Bar Graphs.

-          Draw and read bar graphs.

-          Draw and read line graphs.

Prior Learning –

Year 2 – Chapter 8 – Pictograms.

Read a picture graph and interpret the graph.

Year 3- Chapter 11 – Pictographs and Bar Graphs

To read and draw picture graphs and to read bar graphs.

Measurement: Area and Perimeter (2 weeks)

-          To find the perimeter.

-          To find the area.

-          To measure and compare the area counting squares.

-          To compare area and perimeter counting squares and half squares.

-          To compare area and perimeter of different figures.

-          To find the area of squares and rectangles.

Prior Learning –

Year 3 –Chapter 15 – Perimeter of figures.

To measure and calculate the perimeter of rectangles and squares. To create shapes with a specific perimeter.

Calculations: Addition and Subtraction  (3.5 weeks)

-          To find sums.

-          To add without and with renaming.

-          Add using mental strategies.

-          To find the difference.

-          Subtract without and with renaming in ones, tens, hundreds.

-          Subtract using mental strategies.

-          Solve word problems.

Use of bar modelling to add and subtract.

To add and subtract using renaming in the ones and tens. Use of bar modelling.

Fractions, Decimals and Percentages : Fractions  (3 weeks)

-          Counting in hundredths,

-          Writing mixed number fractions.

-          Showing mixed number fractions on a number line.

-          Finding equivalent fractions.

-          Simplifying fractions.

-          Adding fractions and recording as a mixed number or in its simplest form.

-          Subtracting fractions.

-          Solve word problems.

Prior Learning –

Year 2 – Chapter 13 – Fractions

To show equal parts, to make half, quarter and thirds, to make a whole, find parts of a set and quantity.

Year 3 – Chapter 12 – Fractions

Find equivalent fractions, to compare fractions, to add and subtraction fractions from a whole.

Geometry: Properties of Shapes: Geometry (2.5 weeks)

-          To identify types of angles.

-          Compare angles.

-          Classify triangles.

-          Classify quadrilaterals.

-          Identify symmetrical figures.

-          Draw and make symmetrical figures.

Prior Learning –

Year 3 –Chapter 13 – Angles

To find right angles, to find angles inside and outside of shapes.

Calculations: Multiplication and Division  (4 weeks)

-          To count in 6’s, 7’s, and 9’s.

-          To multiply by 9, 7, 11 and 12.

-          To divide by 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12.

-          To divide with a remainder.

-          To solve word problems.

Prior Learning –

Year 2 – Chapter 3 and 4 – Multiplication and division of 2, 5, 10.

Communitive law between 2, 5 and 10. Repeated addition, finding groups and sharing linked to the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

Year 3 – Chapter 3 and 4 – Multiplication and Division

To find relationships between multiplication and division. To multiply and divide 2 digit numbers with renaming.

Measurement Time (1 week)

-          Telling the time on a 24 hour clock.

-          Converting minutes to seconds.

-          Converting hours to minutes.

-          Solving problems on duration of time.

-          Convert years to months.

-          Converts weeks to days.

-          Solve word problems.

Prior Learning –

Year 2 – Chapter 15 – Time

Telling the time to 5 minutes. Drawing clock hands. Finding durations of time. Finding start and end times. Comparing durations.

Year 3 – Chapter 10 – Time

To tell the time on a 12 hour and 24 hour clock. To find the duration in minutes and hours. To convert minutes to seconds

Geometry – Position and Direction (1.5 weeks)

-          To describe the position.

-          To plot coordinates.

-          To describe translations.

 

Prior Learning –

Year 1 – Geometry – Position and Direction: Space

 Describe positions, movements and turns.

Mid- Year Tests

N.B: this time may be reduced according to the needs of the class and cohort. Pupils may need more time on curriculum content opposed to a large review of the year so far. This is down to the discretion on the class teacher.

-          Dividing by 10 and 100.

-          Making number patterns involving addition and subtraction.

Multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100.

Number and Place Value: Roman Numerals

-          To write Roman numerals to 20.

-          To write Roman numerals to 100.

Year 3- Chapter 10 – Time

To tell the time using Roman numerals.

 

End of Year Tests

-          To multiply by 0 and 1.

-          Multiply the same 2 numbers.

-          Multiply 3 numbers.

-          Multiply multiples of 10, 100.

-          Multiply 2-digit and 3-digit numbers without and with renaming.

 

Measurement: Money  (2 weeks)

-          Writing amounts of money.

-          Compare amounts of money.

-          Round amounts of money.

-          Solve problems involving money (addition, subtraction, multiplication).

-          Estimate amounts of money.
